MANUAL LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE: MLD
The lymphatic system plays a vital role in your body’s ability to fight off infections. The spleen, thymus, lymph nodes and glands function as filters. They trap viruses, toxins and other unwanted materials before they can infect the rest of the body. MLD is a light hands on touch stimulating lymph flow, at the same time engaging the immune and parasympathetic nervous system creating a deep relaxing experience. The body is like a river, receiving manual lymphatic drainage helps keep the channels open and the flow going. Some common signs that your lymphatic system could use a boost: Arthritis, Skin conditions, Digestive disorders, Frequent headaches, Sinus infections, Excess weight, Chronic fatigue, lymphedema. Our body has 3xs more lymph than blood but has no organ to cause circulation. Manual Lymphatic Drainage by a trained therapist is one of the many ways to boost the lymphatic system to help your body do what it’s already capable of.
30 minutes: $40
60 minutes: $75
MYOFASCIAL RELEASE TECHNIQUE
Myofascial release is a manipulative treatment that attempts to release tension in the fascia due to trauma, posture, or inflammation. Connective tissues called fascia, surround the muscles, bones, nerves, and organs of the body. Points of restriction in the fascia can place a great deal of pressure on nerves and muscles causing chronic pain. There are several techniques that may be applied for myofascial release including long stretching strokes meant to balance tissue and muscle mechanics and improve joint range of motion, skin/tissue “rolling”, or other means that include certain tools to be utilized during the session, all in order to relieve pain. This modality is often integrated in to a typical massage therapy session as needed. Ask your therapist if it’s right for you.
The most common, well known type of massage. Long, slow massage strokes releases tension and promotes relaxation by calming the nervous system.
DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE
A deeper massage where the therapist applies more pressure. Working deeper into the muscle tissue to relieve chronic muscle tension and pain, this method is effective in loosening areas of tightness and “knots” in the tissues.
NEUROMUSCULAR MASSAGE
Often called NMT, this is a specialized form of deep tissue, releasing areas of strain or restriction and is often “area specific”. NMT addresses trigger points and referral pain, postural distortions, nerve compression, often injury specific.
SPORTS MASSAGE
This type of massage encourages muscle repair and releases built is tension and lactic acid in overworked muscles due to training. Alleviates muscle tension and inflammation post-event and provides warm up to loosen muscles for pre-event.
KINESIO TAPING
Kinesio Taping is designed to facilitate the body’s healing process while supporting and stabilizing muscles and joints. It does not restrict muscular range of motion, but rather optimizes performance, while reducing pain.
Kinesio Taping $10/each area
REIKI/ENERGY HEALING
A deeply relaxing experience, where the energy in the body (also called “chi”) is balanced through a very light-touch method, “laying on hands”, by a trained Reiki Practitioner, addressing the chakras and the life force energy flow.

There are many more benefits to the body, mind and spirit that massage therapy provides, beyond relaxation and rejuevanation. The obvious whole body benefits include reducing stress and pain, decreasing depression, increasing circulation, attentiveness, neuromuscular function and vigor, enhancing the immune function, improving sleep, mood, body image and lifestyle habits and increasing physical well-being. What you may not know is the many other benefits on other systems of the body:
Muscular System and Connective Tissue: Relieves muscle tension, soreness and fatigue (Note: a fatigued muscle recuperates 20% after 5 minutes of rest and 100% after 5 minutes of massage), increases range of motion, improves performance, balance and posture, lengthens and re-educates muscles memory (neuromuscular re-education), tones weak muscles and reduces the appearance of cellulite and improves scar formation.
Nervous and Endocrine System: Reduces stress, anxiety and stress hormone levels (Cortisol, Norepinephrine, Epinephrine, etc..), increases good hormone levels (Dopamine, Serotonin), changes brain wave activity to promote relaxation, decreases pain and depression.
Cardiovascular System: Improves circulation and dilates blood vessels, decreases blood pressure, promotes removal of waste products from the tissues, replenishes nutritive materials to tissues, reduces heart and pulse rate, increases oxygen saturated blood, and increases red and white blood cell count.
Lymphatic and Immune Systems: Promotes lymph circulation, reduces inflammation and edema (swelling), increases lyphocyte count, and increases the number and function of natural killer cells (strengthens immune system).

Jacqueline Murray, LMBT NC #9621
Jackie has been a licensed Massage and Bodywork Therapist since 2008 and has helped many clients with chronic pain due to soft tissue injuries and other medical conditions.
It was Jackie’s own experience with chronic pain due to previous motor vehicle accidents, that led her to seek out massage therapy as a means of improving her mobility and managing her pain. After only 2 treatments, Jackie experienced the relief she had hoped for after years of discomfort, and knew immediately she wanted to help others with similar injuries.
She studied Massage and Bodywork Therapy at The Edmund-Morgan School of Neuromuscular Therapy, in Cornelius, North Carolina. With 650 training hours initially, Jackie graduated at the top of her class. She has continued her classroom hours since being licensed, with hands-on training in Sports Massage, Kinesio Taping, further Neuromuscular Therapy and Postural Assessment Training, Massage for Arthritic Clients, Hot Stone Massage, Reiki, Prenatal, and so on. Her practical skills have developed by practicing in various different settings, including a clinical setting with a local Doctor of Chiropractic.
Jackie has developed a reputation in the area as a specialist for treating soft tissue, chronic pain cases with Neuromuscular and Deep Tissue Techniques. She has created a strong following of clients through continued referrals, both from clients as well as other professionals in the Lake Norman Region such as Chiropractors and Physical Therapists.
Jackie continues to be committed to her clients, to help them improve their overall health and well being through various massage modalities, as well as incorporating other supports and Wellness models. In addition, she is a Level II Reiki Practitioner, and organizes a small group for a weekly Mindfulness Meditation practice. She treats clients with warm, caring compassion, listening carefully to their concerns and needs, and develops a treatment plan together with her client. Jackie has treated clients from the young age of 4 through 84.
Originally from Buffalo, NY and South Florida, Jackie has lived in the Lake Norman area for over 14 years. She has 3 teenage children, who have always been actively involved in strenuous sports. She has enjoyed helping them, as well as their team mates over the years, using her expertise, to assist with injuries and muscle discomfort.
Not accepting new clients at this time.
Charlie Shiflett
Charlie is a graduate of The Southeastern Institute, where his training in Neuromuscular Therapy and Bodywork was clinically focused. He has since furthered his education earning the certification in Medical Massage. He has worked in various clinical settings since receiving his license, and uses extensive skills, knowledge, and experience to customize each session to the client’s needs. His main goal when working with clients is listening to the clients concerns, understanding their needs, and using that insight along with the challenge of “hearing” what the body needs as he works with each individual.
Charlie works from a place of deep compassion, empathy and understanding, as it has been his own experience with holistic medicine and alternative healing therapies that helped him through four difficult years of battling cancer. In fact, holistic medicine and alternative therapies provided the first sense of relief from his pain and discomfort of the disease. He has always had a heart and “calling” for serving others, and wanted to “give back” after surviving the ordeal himself. Charlie spends countless hours furthering his knowledge and skills about the dysfunctions of the human body and how he can best apply his experience and knowledge to help and ultimately increase healing in his clients.
Tori Trinks, LMBT NC #15884
Tori loves maintaining an optimal quality of life naturally and enjoys helping others with the same throughout their wellness journey. She has always been interested in healthy living using natural and holistic methods. Coming from a line of healthcare professionals, she knew that she wanted to help people in some way, but with less invasive practices; no pharmaceuticals or surgery. Her interest led her to the NC Massage School, which had a program that encouraged a balancing of the body, as well as the mind and spirit. Here she learned techniques for Swedish massage, myofascial release, and neuromuscular therapy along with Qigong exercises such as Tai Chi, meditation, and Reiki. She has worked in both a relaxing spa environment, and a clinical Chiropractic setting, and enjoys blending the experiences to form the most effective treatment.
Tori’s approach to the body is client specific. Starting by learning what the wellness goals are, then assessing work, rest, and play patterns to find the root causes of their pain or discomfort. She enjoys assisting people on their path to body awareness and bringing them to a healthier space with both muscles and mind.
Laura Troyer, LMBT NC #18360
Laura is fascinated by massage and its complex effects on the mind, soul and body. She began studying the healing art of massage in 2016 and graduated from Lancaster School of Massage in 2017. With knowledge of the body’s natural self-healing process Laura helps each client experience new freedom in their body by applying an integrated massage. Utilizing her myofascial techniques she helps the client’s body deeply unwind from undesired tension. Working with the parasympathetic nervous system in this way she gets the same results as those who believe in the idiom “no pain, no gain”. Laura has also studied the lymphatic system and is certified for Manual Lymph Drainage. She’s worked with clients suffering from Fibromyalgia symptoms and Parkinson’s and helped alleviate their pain.
Laura is passionate about all aspects of living a healthy lifestyle. She enjoys cooking with fresh local produce, barefoot hikes with her husband, and mindful body movement to start the morning. Her hope is to inspire humanity to live out the best possible versions of themselves.
